Lehmo – Camper Van Go 2: The Appendix

Our Score

“Camper vans, coddled kids and an appendix that didn’t make it home!”

South Australia’s own Lehmo is back in Adelaide, and Camper Van Go 2: The Appendix! proves that nothing fuels great comedy quite like international travel going catastrophically wrong. Fresh from a European family adventure that included camper vans, cultural confusion, and the small inconvenience of appendicitis in Italy, Lehmo turns pain, literal and emotional, into premium Fringe laughs.

The show balances travel horror stories with razor‑sharp observations about modern parenting. Lehmo takes aim at today’s cotton‑wool kids, where everyone gets a ribbon just for turning up, and contrasts it with the Gen X childhood of the ’70s: feral freedom, questionable supervision, and being sent outside with instructions to “be back before dark.” The nostalgia hits hard, especially when paired with the realisation that we somehow survived without apps, helmets, or emotional check‑ins.

Europe provides plenty of ammunition, particularly Lehmo’s stint as the reluctant vacation planner. His Italian appendicitis saga is comedy gold—nothing says “relaxing family holiday” like navigating foreign hospitals, language barriers, and abdominal surgery while still trying to keep the itinerary on track. It’s stressful, absurd, and painfully relatable for anyone who’s learned that holidays are just parenting with worse sleep and higher stakes.

Lehmo’s strength lies in his ability to turn life’s misfires into shared therapy sessions. The laughs are constant, the stories feel lived‑in, and the delivery is effortlessly sharp.

Lehmo continues at The Piglet and The Squeaker at Gluttony – Rhymill Park until 14 March.
